Government's request.

It will be realised that having maintained

that service for almost a year without Government aid to offset

operating losses our policy as to the continuance of the service must be guided by the Government's attitude in "espect to making good previous losses, as certified, and future losses should they

result.

We understand that during the period 23rd June and 3rd September 1925 before we were requested to recommence operating, the Government ran the s.s. "Tung On", paying all running expenses,

finding crew and in addition paying Owners a monthly fee by way

of compensation and we hope the Government will bear in mind,

the fact that the re-commencement of our regular service, enabled them to dispense with the s.s. "Tung On."

We have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your obedient servants.
